In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (NIV)

Friday Funnies

Yeah...IT'S FRIDAY!!! It's also my day off but it really isn't my day off. You see, I don't have to work at my first job but I still have to work at my second job....housework!!!

Roger was feeling sorry for me because I have been so stressed out trying to keep the house clean, laundry, work on home projects and work a full-time job...so, my sweet, sweet husband told me that he was going to get me some help...something to help me with my cleaning.

Little did I know that he meant this....

Thankful Thursday~God's Love

Luke 15:4-10
(4 ) What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

(5) And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
(6) And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
(7) I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
(8) Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?
(9) And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
(10) Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

I am so thankful today for the love of God in my life and in my family's life. If you have read my past post from Sunday through yesterday, you will know a little more of what I am talking about.

It completely amazes me how much God loves us, longs for us to be a part of His family and the lengths He will go to for our lost loved ones.

My son, like many of your loved ones, is that little lost sheep. BUT, God has stopped what He is doing and is out looking for that one. He is working in their lives as we speak so that we will all be rejoicing when that one comes home, being carried safely in the Father's arms.

I am so thankful that God is able to look for more than "one" at a time. He doesn't have to wait until He brings mine back to the flock before He goes looking for yours.

Father God, I thank you today for loving my son so much that you would leave the rest of the flock to find Him. You have proven time and time again that your hand is on Brandon's life and you are working in him. Thank you that you loved him enough to make changes in the script on Sunday because you knew he would be there when no one else outside of our family knew this. I am longing for the day when I will be rejoicing with you as Brandon returns to the His fold. I am thanking you in advance for his safe return to you.

Have a wonderfully blessed day!

What Are You Walking By?

2 Corinthians 5:7
(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

There are times in my life when I think that I am walking by faith and not by sight, but am I really? Am I trusting in the Creator of all things for all the needs in my life?

I am trying to put into words all the things that are overflowing from my heart this morning, so hopefully, it won't sound like rambling and make sense.

We often pray and ask God to do something in our lives or in the lives of a loved one, but when the answer arrives, we act shocked, question whether it was of God or it goes unnoticed by us.

I knew last week that Brandon was coming home and going to church with us this past Sunday...so, I began praying that God would cultivate the soil of his heart to receive God's Word during the illustrated sermon. I knew that if it were up to Brandon, he wouldn't have gone in the first place but he did it for us and he knew that if he were here...he didn't have a choice. He has only been in church 2 times since he moved away from home nearly 5 years ago.

Pastor's illustrated sermon was awesome, as usual, but after hearing the message...I was afraid of what Brandon thought.

I told pastor later that I was afraid that Brandon would think that we set him up by knowing what the sermon was about. We didn't! There was the doubt that was creeping in to my mind.

We don't have to actually speak our doubts to someone else for God to know that we are doubting what happened. Roger and I talked about it briefly and dropped it.

However, the doubt and fear was present in my mind. Did Brandon get anything out of the sermon? He never mentioned one thing about the service to me at all. Did he get upset, feel offended or angry because he thought we "set him up"? If he did, he never mentioned it.

All I could do was pray that the seeds were planted and God had a purpose in him being in that service rather than on Easter Sunday. We wanted him to be here so bad for Easter because (1) you know there is always a salvation message and (2) all the other children, son-in-law and grandson were with us in church. We also were celebrating Roger and Brandon's birthdays, which were actually on Monday.

By yesterday morning, I had already forgotten about the service, message and Brandon's reaction. I had really been thinking about my sweet friend, Dorinda...so I sent her a text message. She replied right back and said that she was getting her phone out to text me and to call her when I had a moment.

I called her right then to see what was up. She told me that she needed to share something with me about Sunday. I hadn't told anyone that Brandon was coming to church because he could have easily changed his mind and not gone.

**Sometimes, God has to give us confirmation on what He is doing because we are in doubt**

She told me that Saturday night, she was so tired and had already gone to bed...when the Lord got her back up out of the bed to look up more scriptures. She was obedient and He led her to the scriptures He wanted her to use on Sunday morning. What she was going to say was not in the script.

When she spoke the words the Lord had given her, she looked up and saw what appeared to be Brandon with us on the 4th row. It was dark in the sanctuary, so she wasn't sure. She said that she felt nauseated and doubtful but proceeded on in obedience.

Immediately after the sermon, she began to pray...praying that she didn't miss God and go the wrong direction. It wasn't until she read my blogs from the weekend yesterday morning that she got the confirmation that she needed that she heard correctly from God and I got the confirmation that I needed that Brandon was in the right place at the right time.

How amazing is that! God loves my son enough that He got an exhausted pastor's wife, with the leading role in the illustrated sermon, out of bed to change part of the message. Even though, Brandon never mentioned it...the Word of God went forth, the seed was planted and I will continue to pray that it grows in his heart.

Isaiah 55:11
So will the words that come out of my mouth not come back empty--handed. They'll do the work I sent them to do, they'll complete the assignment I gave them. (Message)

Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Psalm 37:4
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart. (Amplified)

I am guilty of walking by sight, feelings, emotions, finances and material things instead of by faith.

I am so thankful today that God knows my every thought, doubt, concern, desires of my heart and He sorts through all of them, weeds out the negative stuff and gives me what is best for me.

Have a wonderfully blessed day!

~What I Learned This Week~

Where do the days and weeks go? April is almost over and it is Tuesday again! Wow!!!

Here are a few things that I've learned this week...probably, a refresher course on many.

  • God cares about the small things in my life more than I do and I really care about them.
  • We are never out of God's reach, His protection, His sight and He dispatches His angels to watch over us.
  • I would rather be working with my hands, creating things, fixing things, painting things than doing anything else. Enough "things" in this sentence?
  • I love to see the amazement on my husband's face when I do something that he didn't think I could do, would think to do or especially, make something that saved us money because we didn't have to buy it. See the sunscreen picture below. I actually made 10 to go across the back of our house about 3 years ago because it faces the east and got really hot during the summer. We made some made for another house 18 years ago and they were very expensive.
  • If someone else can learn to do it...so can I.
  • Why should I pay to have someone else do it when I can do it myself? Especially, in this economy!
  • I found out last night that I can actually groom my dog and she looks good!
  • Now that it is spring in Arkansas...I really wish I didn't have a full time job!!!
  • I have so many projects that I want to do but don't have the time to do them. One at a time, after work and on the weekends...I guess.

What have you learned this week? Visit Jo-Lynne at Musings of a Housewife for more wonderful learning experiences.

Have a wonderfully blessed day!

Praising God~Part II

There were so many things to be thankful for this past weekend and I didn't want one to take away from the other.

Saturday morning when we were on our way to the golf course to get things ready for the kickoff of the 1st Annual Brothers for Hope St. Jude Golf Classic, we saw a friend of ours ahead of us. Roger called him on his cell phone because we thought he was going to the same place we were.

However, he began to tell us about his daughter, McKenzie's ball team that morning. After arriving at the golf course and during the day, we found out more and more details of how God miraculously spared the lives of this entire ball team and their families

This is a 10 and under, competitive, fast pitch girls softball team. They were headed to a tournament about 2 1/2 hours away early Saturday morning. It was or had been raining as they traveled down I-40 (one of the worst stretches of interstate...known for so many deadly wrecks) and as usual...there was construction going on.

The 1st of 3 wrecks had already occurred earlier in the morning and the interstate was backed up. They were routing the traffic off the interstate and onto the old highway to keep traffic moving. However, there wasn't a state trooper or anyone warning motorist of the sudden detour. They only had orange cones set up to redirect traffic off the interstate at the Wheatley exit. A couple of ladies were driving, suddenly realized where they were supposed to go and tried to get off, went under a tractor trailer and the change reaction began. Those two ladies were killed instantly.

The caravan of softball players and their parents were right behind...the now, 2nd wreck had just happened. Traffic starts stopping and an tractor trailer rear ended one of our parents at about 70 miles an hour. Other drivers were able to pull him free of the wreckage before his truck burst into flames. It is not known right now if he lived or not but he was in real bad shape.

The family that he hit wasn't hurt. But, the caravan following that truck were also involved. Another parent saw the traffic stopping and a tractor trailer barrelling down on her, so she took the ditch instead of getting rear ended.

That SUV was carrying another child who's parents were going to be at the golf tournament and weren't with their child. What a sick feeling they had when they received that phone call. She said that she had a sick feeling when she put her daughter in the car with another parent who she trust to take her daughter anywhere. She kept asking herself..."what is wrong with me, why am I feeling this way?" She soon found out what those feelings were all about.

Another car was carrying a family that I grew up with plus the mother-in-law. Their car was destroyed beyond recognition because they got it from the front and the back.

One of my best friend's daughter (who's father was ahead of us that morning) should have been in the caravan but wasn't playing that day because she had a church event that kept her at home. PTL!

All in all, several vehicles belonging to our ball team were totalled BUT, NOT ONE ADULT OR CHILD WAS INJURED beyond cuts, scrapes, bruises, sore and just being shook up.

Psalm 121:8
the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. (NIV)

Psalm 91:11
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; (NIV)

********************************************

Another thing that I am praising God for today is that Brandon was here with us Saturday night, went to church with us on Sunday and we had lunch with my mom yesterday afternoon before I had to take him back to work.

We had a powerful, illustrated sermon yesterday morning and the seed of TRUTH was planted. I have been praying since I knew that he was coming that God would cultivate the soil of his heart so that the seeds would not fall on thorny ground. Only God knows exactly what Brandon is thinking or feeling because he is good at putting up smoke screens or telling you what you want to hear...or he just reminds silent.

I am just so thankful to get to spend some time with him this weekend.

Have a wonderfully blessed day!

Praising God!!!

Praise God for two things...(1) God miraculously held off the rain until the last team came back to the clubhouse. Literally!...then the bottom fell out and the floodgates opened (2) the tournament was a complete success. The silent auction raised over $2,100. alone. I can't wait to share with you the actual dollar amount that we will be writing a check to St. Jude for.

This golf tournament was a desire that was placed in a teenage boy, a junior high schools heart after touring St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee back in October 2008. Zac came home telling his parents that he has taken fore granted all that he has in his life because when he visited St. Jude...those kids only had hope and very little else.

It was Zac's desire to host a benefit golf tournament to raise funds for the hospital that never turns one child away because they don't have the money to pay. This is a cancer research hospital founded by the late Danny Thomas. It cost over a million dollars a day to run the hospital. They depend solely on donations for the smallest amounts to the largest.

Brothers of JDC/DCA (JDC=Junior Delta Christians and DCA=Delta Christian Association) is a Christian organization that does community projects, instills principles of helping others, giving back to their community and so many more values...boys from the 7th grade through 12th grade.

The tournament was named "Brothers for Hope St. Jude Golf Classic".

Today, we had a friend's son, Kyler as our guest for this benefit. When he was 9 months old, he was diagnosed with cancer of the retina...which he was born with but his doctor didn't discovered the reason for his extreme pain, crying and irritability which was documented in his chart that he mother couldn't deal with a colicky baby.

Upon his diagnosis, he was scheduled to have his eyes removed the following Monday and this was on Friday. His doctor called them the next morning to tell them that he couldn't sleep all night (which was the prayer of his mother) and he had found a doctor in Memphis, TN who was willing to take him as his patient...they lived in Kansas. These doctors in Kansas told his parents that he would be dead within 6 months...before he was 15 months old.

The doctor in Memphis referred him to St. Jude at 9 months of age and Kyler is just about to turn 13 years old. He has been an active patient since he was 9 months old and St. Jude has spent over a million dollars to keep him alive. Kyler has last one eye and is legally blind in the other but he has a wonderful spirit. He is extremely smart and is in gifted and talented in Marion School District. What an amazing testimony to the wonderful work that this hospital and doctors do for all children with cancer and other childhood diseases.

I am so excited with the turnout, comments about the tournament and the money that was raised for a very worthy cause. It was well worth all the hard work that went into it. It was the first golf tournament and their will be another one next year.

So many people said that the rain will never hold off and it would be rained out...but with God...ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE...including the weather!

Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday ~ I Will Rise

I haven't been able to participate in TSMSS in a couple of weeks and boy, have I missed you guys. I haven't been blogging much over the past 3 weeks either. It has been extremely hectic around here and hopefully, things are starting to slow down.

I am praying that it doesn't rain here tomorrow so we can have our benefit golf tournament and GET IT OVER WITH. It has dominated my life for the past month, as I am in charge of all team registration, collecting their money, sending out their confirmations and I am exhausted. We worked on goodies bags last night until after 8:30 pm, I am baking brownies after cleaning my house all morning and cutting shrubs and working in the yard all afternoon...I am so tired!

I love this song and it ministers to me everytime I hear it. I hope you enjoy it. I think that I will sit back, close my eyes and let it minister to my tired mind, body and soul too.

If You Don't Know God...Don't Make Stupid Remarks!

A friend sent this to me last week and I thought it was too good not to pass along. I started to post it as a Friday Funnies but there is so much truth to it (people making stupid remarks like this)...I thought I would just post it by itself.

If you don't know GOD, don't make stupid remarks!!!!!!

A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist, and a member of the ACLU.

One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, "GOD if you are real then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 min."

The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop.

Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, "Here I am GOD, I'm still waiting."

It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold.

The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently.

The other students were shocked and stunned, and sat there looking on in silence.

The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, "What in the world is the matter with you?" "Why did you do that?"

The Marine calmly replied, "GOD was too busy today protecting America 's soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an idiot. So He sent me."

The classroom erupted in cheers!

Wishing you a very happy, enjoyable and relaxed weekend!

Have a wonderfully blessed day!

~What I Learned This Week~

Another week of Life's Lessons 101! I've learned/re-learned...or just got a refresher course several things this week...they are:

  • No matter what life throws at you...you can make it if you are holding the right hand of God.
  • Being in charge of the registration of a benefit golf tournament can be challenging but fun.
  • After listening to the mother of a 12 year old, an active patient of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, speak to our son's Brother's of JDC/DCA meeting last night...it made me realize that I unknowingly take my children's health fore granted sometimes.
  • My son-in-law loves his father-in-law's BBQ ribs and would hopefully, work for them:)
  • He's an electrician and I want new lighting in my kitchen. He gave me ideas and advice...I wonder if he knew that I was planning on him fulfilling those ideas for me? *blush*
  • I love getting together with our family, even without a holiday to celebrate.
  • I sure missed having Brandon here Easter with all the other children.
  • He will be here this weekend...spend the night Saturday, go to church with us on Sunday, go eat dinner with his Nanny and then back home to work that afternoon. It will be a rushed time but a great time.
  • Global warming or not...this has been the craziest weather year that I've ever seen!
  • I love life, my family, my church, my friends, my sweet bloggy sisters and living!

Have a blessed Tuesday, my friends!

~Added A Couple of Pictures~

I wanted to let you know that I added a couple of more pictures of my birthday boys from the earlier years. I added them to the post below...the first one for day.

The one where Roger is holding Brandon was the 1st birthday that they shared together. They are pointing at the other ones shirt...they had matching shirts.

The other one is of them after Roger took Brandon on his first dove hunt.

**Please be patient with me...my posting and comment have been few and far between but this week "hopefully" will be the end of two major projects and I will have more free time. I promise...I will be back. Thank each of you for continuing to stop by, even though, I might not have gotten by to see you lately. I MISS YOU GUYS!**

Have a wonderfully blessed day!

~Happy Birthday to Roger and Brandon~

This post is dedicated to two very special men in my life...my husband and my son. Today is Roger and Brandon's birthday.

It was 23 years ago today that I gave birth to a 8 lb. 10 oz, 21 inch baby boy who was born at 3:34 PM on a Sunday afternoon in West Memphis, Arkansas.

It was 54 years ago that Lee W. gave birth to a bouncing baby boy at 4:15 AM in Wickenburg, Arizona.

Who would have ever imagined that 4 1/2 years after Brandon's birth that I would meet the man of my dreams and we would finally become a complete family.

Who would have ever imagined that out of a disastrous first marriage, 4 years of single parenting that the love of my life, Roger, would share the same birthday as the little love of my life, Brandon, would.

Happy Birthday to two very special men in my life. Life wouldn't be the same without either one of you. Yes, there is never a dull moment in my life because of these two men but I wouldn't have it any other way

Happy Birthday, Roger...I love you with all my heart and soul. You make me complete, loved, secure, adored, appreciated and you treat me like a princess.

Happy Birthday, Brandon...I love you with all my heart and would give my life for you. You were my first born child, my son...you have brought me so much joy and yes, some tough times too. But, through it all...you always knew that when no one else loved you, when no one else was in your corner...your mama was always there for you and always loved you...no matter what

I love you both so very, very much! May you have a wonderful birthday and many, many more to come.

Each at birth:

~Then Sings My Soul Saturday~ I WIll Rise and Arise My Love~

With Easter tomorrow...Resurrection Sunday...I thought these songs was very fitting. (I love both and couldn't choose ) because Jesus Christ made the ultimate sacrifice on Calvary over 2000 years ago...He gave His life so we could have eternal life with Him in Heaven one day. As much as I love living on this earth with my family, watching my children grow up, get married and give us grandchildren and I would love to see the other two children do the same...I long to see Jesus, move into my mansion, be reunited with my precious daddy and other family member who have gone on before me, walk the streets of gold and bow down before the King of Kings...praising Him, worshipping Him and loving Him.

All of this is possible only through Jesus Christ because He was crucified, buried, went to Hell and retrieved the keys of death, hell and the grave, arise victoriously on the 3rd day and ascended to the right hand of the Father, where He still sits today. Hallelujah!

Matthew 27:63
"Sir," they said, "we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.' (KJV)

Matthew 27:50-54
And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
(51)Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,
(52)and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;
(53)and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
(54)So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!"

John 19:30
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Luke 24:6-7
He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, (7)saying, "The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again."'

I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Rejoice today, my friends...Jesus is alive and well...sitting at the right hand of the Father, ruling and reigning over the earth, watching over and protecting His children. Thank you, Jesus! That should make you want to shout this morning!

Friday Funnies

A little old lady answered a knock on the door one day, only to be confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner.

'Good morning,' said the young man. 'If I could take a couple of minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest inhigh-powered vacuum cleaners.

''Go away!' said the old lady. 'I'm broke and haven't got any money!'and she proceeded to close the door.

Quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot in the door and pushed it wide open.

'Don't be too hasty!' he said. 'Not until you have at least seen my demonstration.'

And with that, he emptied a bucket of horse manure onto her hallway carpet.

'If this vacuum cleaner does not remove all traces of this horsemanure from your carpet, Madam, I will personally eat the remainder..'

The old lady stepped back and said,

' Well let me get you a fork,'cause they cut off my electricity this morning.'

~What I Learned This Week~

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Do we ever stop learning? I never realized how much I learn from week to week until I started participating in this fun carnival. So, here's what I've learned this week...condensed and in a nut shell.

  • Things are usually not as they appear on the surface
  • Watching your children stand up and make their own decisions regardless of what you try to tell them is always difficult
  • We want to protect our children from making mistakes, but they seem to learn more and those lessons seem to stay with them longer when...they learn the hard way
  • Even, when they have to learn it the hard way...it is still painful for parents to watch
  • This world is made up of all kinds of people: some interesting, some great, some a little out there and some just plain weird :-)
  • I seem to always get the last few squares of toilet paper and have to change the roll...but, at times, when it is running low, I use less so I don't get the last and have to change the roll *oops*blush*
  • I can't worry about last week, yesterday, tomorrow or next week...today is the day to do a little housecleaning...physically, spiritually and mentally. Today is that day...a fresh new start.

~It's Been Rough~

This has been a difficult weekend for me. I am battling with a situation that I no longer have any control of because it is not my decision to make. It is very difficult for me to be supportive of this decision because I "feel" they are making a mistake that they will regret.

I have been disappointed, angry, frustrated and somewhat depressed all weekend over this choice that is about to be made. I have prayed and prayed...poured my heart out to God. The feelings are very overwhelming...such a sense of sadness has overtaken me...a feeling of grief, so to speak.

  • Is it a life or death issue? No.
  • Is it one that is life changing? No, not really..I guess, it would depend on how you look at it. Life changing but not earth shattering.
  • Is it more of my dreams, goals and beliefs in life? Probably.
  • Does it, in general, go against everything that I believe in? Yes.
  • Does this decision affect others too? Yes.
  • Does it have to affect others? No, not really, but it does me.
  • Would anyone else understand how I am feeling? No...that is definite by the discussions that have taken place all weekend and it has gotten to the point of ...no conversation.
  • Have I tried to shed my light of wisdom on the subject? Yes...tirelessly.
  • Has it done any good? No.
  • Do I feel any better about it? No.
  • Is it something that I will have to accept regardless of whether I agree with it? Yes...but it will definitely take time.
  • Am I still praying that they will see things differently before they make a decision that they can't change back? Absolutely...there is still hope until it is done.
  • Do I want what I "think" is best for this person? Without a doubt...their best interest for now and the future are always first and foremost...even though, I have been told I was selfish.

I'm praying for a different outcome for this situation this week. I am praying that they see things with the same belief in themself as I do. I believe that you can do anything you set your mind to with the right attitude, application and hard work.

Have a wonderfully blessed day!

The "U" In Jesus

THE U IN JESUS

Before U were thought of or time had begun,
God stuck U in the name of His Son.

And each time U pray, you'll see it's true,
You can't spell out JesUs and not include U.

You're a pretty big part of His wonderful name,
For U, He was born; that's why He came.

And His great love for U is the reason He died.
It even takes U to spell crUcified.

Isn't it thrilling and splendidly grand
He rose from the dead, with U in His plan?

The stones split away, the gold trUmpet blew,
and this word resUrrection is spelled with a U.

When JesUs left earth at His upward ascension,
He felt there was one thing He just had to mention.

'Go into the world and tell them it's true
That I love them all - Just like I love U.'

So many great people are spelled with a U,
Don't they have a right to know JesUs too?

It all depends now on what U will do,
He'd like them to know,
But it all starts with U.

Thankful Thursday~Quality Family Time

Hey, I'm back!!! It feels good to be back with your lovely ladies (and gentlemen...if there is any reading this)...I've missed you guys BUT, I have enjoyed my time away from the computer and blogging. Nothing personal...I just needed a break to spend some quality time with my son, Tyler, who is 14 years old and growing too fast and to get my priorities straight.

Last week was our Spring Break and I worked Monday through Wednesday and that evening, my hubby, Roger, took our camper to the beautiful state park about 40 miles away. Roger had to work so he took the camper up there Wednesday evening, spent the night and came back home Thursday morning for work plus had a men's ministry retreat...not to return to us until Saturday evening.

This gave Ty and I some wonderful alone time...3 days of no cell phone, house phone, TV and no XBox!!! PTL!!! The only problem with this is...we had thunderstorms every night that we were there alone...severe storms, at that. We have a nice 5th wheel camper that is big and heavy but the winds rocked it like it was nothing. I couldn't get online on my cell phone to check the weather (no signal), couldn't call Roger for a weather update, couldn't get the weather on the TV...so, I did a lot of praying until 2-3 AM on Friday and Saturday. The days were gorgeous...sunshine, warm weather and we had a great time.

We watched movies every night and played during the day. We played tennis, went for walks, rode our bikes and played board games. Neither one of us missed being at home with all the distractions that our daily life brings to our family.

Ty is just like me...we like to stay up late and sleep in late in the mornings...that is exactly what we did. There was no hubby/daddy to wake us up because he just couldn't stand it any longer, there was not wrestling, aggreviating each other...just peace and quiet :-) Sorry, baby...I do love you :-)

We tried out hand at making a camp fire and Ty is usually really good at it (thanks to Byron and Royal Rangers) but this time...there was anything DRY to use for kindling...so, our fire was pretty sad!

Plus, as a bonus...we ran into Dorinda (pastor's wife and my dear friend) and the kids at the tennis court one afternoon. I wanted you to see how much Tyler has grown since August '08 to March '09. The first picture is Ty and Jordan in 8/08 and the second picture is Ty and Jordon in 3/09. Watch out, Jordan...Ty just might pass you in height.

I am so thankful for the wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with my sweet son, add many more memories to our memory bank and get lots of good rest. We had a wonderful time!!!

Have a wonderfully blessed day!
