Good Morning Dear Bloggy Friends!
It has been a busy week since this time last week. I wanted to give you a couple of updates on things in our life and hopefully, get to post an entry later today. Time is very short this morning as my job is screaming for my attention!
Dr. Trent Pierce:
He is still in The Med in Memphis, TN and is recovering very well considering all that has happened to this sweet man.
Per our local paper on Friday...Dr. Scott Ferguson, colleague and best friends with Dr. Pierce stated that he has definitely lost the sight in his left eye and the doctors are optimistic that his right eye will regain good vision once it heals. His appearance is much better. They have cleaned the burned skin off and there is healthy, pink tissue showing. The doctors have said that is was a flash burn and did not burn deep so the skin should heal well. He was scheduled to have surgery either Friday or Saturday to fix a broken wrist and leg that he sustained in the blast.
The interview stated that his family was still at the hospital as of Thursday afternoon and were holding up as well as could be expected under the circumstances.
Another report in the same paper states that they have increased security at the Pierce's home, hospital and at his office. The one responsible for doing this horrendous act hasn't been caught. They have about 150 leads and are following up on all of them but yet they don't have any suspects or made an arrest. It was also states that security at the Pierce home was 24/7 as the some of the family was getting ready to return there this weekend.
Please pray for peace in the face of all their fears. I can't begin to imagine what they are going through knowing someone tried to kill their husband and father. The fear has to be enormous and knowing you will have to return to the house, even if it is only to retrieve personal items and clothing. This person wanted to mangle or kill Dr. Pierce and destroy his family's peace of mind and security. Their world has been turned upside down.
God can give them the peace that they need in the midst of such terror. Please pray for the peace that passeth all understanding for Dr. Pierce, Melissa and their children. Please pray that anyone who might have seen anything will come forward regardless of how small or insignificant it might seem. Pray that God will give these investigators increased insight into the bombers profile and to know who they are looking for.
Winter Jam:
Oh, my...the concert was awesome! We attended the Winter Jam concert on Thursday night starring Toby Mac, Hawk Nelson, NewSong, Brandon Heath, Francesca Battistelli and Tony Nolan, as the guest speaker. It was amazing...over 1,000 accepted Jesus Christ for the 1st time. Praise The Lord! It was so exciting to see that many people in one place...especially, all the teenagers....with hands raised in worship and singing His praises in song. I tried to video it with my cell phone and post it but you couldn't understand the word and the lights were so bright that you couldn't see the singers on stage. We had awesome seats...Wow!!! It was great!!!!
The Fast:
This year...I have been struggling to stay on the fast...faithfully! I have slipped a couple of times but got right back on the next day. I already feel like I have grown closer to the Lord and I am seeking His face in many areas of our lives. God knows my heart and He knows that my heart longs to draw closer to Him, put the focus on Him and not the food that I am eating or not eating. We are believing God for great things as a result of our fasting and praying.
