I love this song, it is about Joseph, Jesus' "earthly" father.
It is a beautiful song sung by Trisha Yearwood.
Enjoy! Scroll down and pause my music first.
Matthew 1:18-25
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. (19) Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. (20) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. (21)And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. (22) Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, (23) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. (24) Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: (25) And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Very lovely, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCome by my blog, there is an award for you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! I've never heard this song before, so I really enjoyed it!!
ReplyDeleteCan you just imagine the awesome responsibility that Joseph felt--raising the son of God? WOW--and yet we read very little of Jesus' young life until the age of 12.
Amazing!!
Beth
Blessings Jennifer...How did I miss your Celine Dion with O Holy Night last week...I have to be visiting more, I see-we share likes.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing "It wasn't His Child" and the Bible story of Jesus' birth and giving honor to the earthly father chosen also for Jesus! Indeed, what an awesome responsibility to raise the son of God from a humble stable & carpenter lifestyle yet impress upon him so much as he watched Him grow. Knowing Jesus wasn't his!
I miss out on so much but not listening more to country singers like Trisha Yearwood. Yet every time I hear one, I like it.
Thank you for sharing and visiting me! I hope you are getting all the
"busy ness" done so you can enjoy
TSMSS & the presence of His Child Jesus with all your family & church family. Beautiful unique choice!
I liked the song, had never heard it before. Also enjoyed Celine's song (LOVE her!). In fact, I left your page open and listened to some Christmas music while I did some other stuff! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love this song! Trisha Yearwood is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard this song before...how beautiful!
ReplyDeletelove,

I am days behind on visiting blogs. I had a horrible headache Friday, which kept me offline most of the day (my post for Friday had been set up the night before, a feat I've only recently learned to do). Saturday, although still headachy, my daughter and I went shopping and out to dinner/lunch (what do you call a meal you eat at 3:30?), then we watched a movie together. Hubby and son were doing a craft show.
ReplyDeleteYesterday we were busy with the new puppy (be sure to drop my blog to see her picture).
Anyhow, I've missed you!! Now, though, I've got several days worth of your thoughts to read.
About this post, I can't hear the music, but I LOVE that song. I've not heard her version, though. The one I hear is by Michael James, whom I never heard of except with this song. Although they play the song on my local Christian station, I think he must be a country artist, as he has a bit of the country twang to him.
It Wasn't His Child and Joseph's Song (By Michael Card) are beautiful songs, both from the point of view of Joseph...who often gets lost in the Christmas story, but who is just as much a part of it as Mary. After all, God gave the baby Jesus to Mary, who was betrothed to Joseph.
Blessings,
Patti
