What I've learned this week is, well, I already knew it but it was confirmed in a greater sense and I gained more understanding.
That is...this world is full of hurting people. We are never alone in our pain whether it is emotional pain, physical pain, family/relational pain, marital pain or even, spiritual pain. Someone is always hurting and probably closer to you than you might realize.
Many people don't share their pain with us but choose to "suffer" silently and others are more open about their struggles. It doesn't really matter which one you are...your pain hurts just like the other person's does.
We need to be more sensitive to those around us because many, many people try to hide their pain but it seeps out in other areas...attitude, reactions, getting offended easily to easily angered. Just because someone is hiding their pain doesn't mean that they are not hurting...it does mean that we might never hear about it.
Sometimes, just a smile or a "hello" to a cashier, receptionist, teacher, crossing guard or whoever...just might be what that person needed to get through the day without crumbling and breaking into a million little pieces.
I've learned this week...pain is all around us and we need to be more observant and sensitive to the people that we come in contact with every day.

Amen, you have learned a very important lesson my friend, love you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Jennifer! You are so right...if we look with out spiritual eyes we will see the hurting world that is all around us. Lord, let us be 'Jesus' to those we meet every day!
ReplyDeleteBless you,
Susan
You are so right. The hurt I've felt from what my best friend has done, I don't know if I will ever get over. It's a constant pain in my heart, but I try not to let it affect me! Kind words can make such a huge difference to people.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs to you my friend.
Kim
Thanks for sharing....great truths!!
ReplyDeleteSo true Jennifer!!!
ReplyDeleteVery good thoughts. It is easy to be flippant and careless with our words. We can all use a lesson in being more intentional to say a kind word or share kind deed - and I point as many or more fingers my way! Every day we have to remember those around us. It is hard sometimes not to get caught up in our own little world.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Oh so true! They're everywhere. We don't need to look far at all. Oh to be able to live in such a way that we see this world through His eyes, to be able to bring the healing balm of God's love to a hurting, broken soul.
ReplyDeleteSuch an amazing lesson! A great challenge to get out there and be encouraging to others :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right - we often don't know the effect a simple smile and eye contact can have on another person. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful reminder. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo true...just a smile can make someones day. It seems to change attitudes quick too! :)
ReplyDeleteJennifer, you're right on...we all do need to be more sensitive to the needs around us, even if they're not obvious.
ReplyDeleteAmen! The world sure is full of hurting people. I heard a song by Brandon Heath called Give Me Your Eyes and since I've prayed that God would open my eyes I am just amazed at the hurt in this world. I knew, but I never knew, you know?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer...I needed that reminder...bless you!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great lesson and one I DEFINITELY need to remember.
ReplyDeleteVery well said Jennifer. Instead of looking at the bad attitude I am trying to see past it and be sensitive to what may be going on in that persons life. Help us Lord!
ReplyDeleteGood stuff!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice post. God Bless you always Jen!
